What is the HLT21020 Certificate II in Medical Service First Response course?

This is a comprehensive 5-day training program designed to provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills to work in the roles of medical first response or volunteers who provide initial care to patients.  Whether you’re a volunteer, a first responder or someone passionate about enhancing your medical emergency skills, this medical first response certification is ideal for you.

 

Who is eligible to enrol in the HLT21020 Certificate II in Medical Service First Response course in Western Australia?

This course is open to anyone interested in pursuing a career in emergency medical services or personnel needing to upskill with accredited first response training . Whether you’re located in Western Australia or further afield, if you have a passion for helping others in times of need, this course is designed for you.

Basic entry requirements include:

  • Sufficient English language skills
  • Physically fit
  • Provide USI and proof of identity
  • Be physically able to kneel and perform CPR on the floor, uninterrupted for at least 2 minutes (multiple times)

 

What will I learn in the HLT21020 Certificate II in Medical Service First Response course?

Throughout the course, you will acquire vital skills such as providing first aid in emergency situations, managing medical emergencies effectively and understanding the legal and ethical responsibilities associated with medical service first response.

 

Course Structure

This course covers nine units over five days. It is delivered through a combination of classroom learning, group discussion and practical activities in both a simulated and real-world environment.
